Mohammad Haris has been recruited into Pakistan’s team for their crucial Twenty20 World Cup encounter against South Africa later on Thursday after batsman Fakhar Zaman withdrew due to injury.

Zaman suffered ligament damage to his right knee, causing Haris, 21, to be called up ahead of the match at Sydney Cricket Ground.

Pakistan is sixth in Group 2 of the Super 12 competition, earning two points from their first three games.

They are four points behind group leaders India and must defeat South Africa and Bangladesh to get to the semi-finals.
