Meat Loaf, whose actual name is Michael Lee Aday, died at the age of 74. According to Deadline, the Grammy winner died Thursday night with his wife, Deborah, at his side.
Micheal Greene, his longtime agent, verified the news on Friday. He noted that within the past 24 hours, the singer’s daughters Pearl and Amanda, as well as close friends, had the opportunity to spend time with him and say their last goodbyes.
The cause of death is unknown at this time.
Meat Loaf’s Bat Out of Hell, written and produced by Jim Steinman, is one of the top 35 best-selling albums in US history, with 14 million copies sold, according to the RIAA.
For the song I’d Do Anything for Love, he won a Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance.
He made his acting debut in The Rocky Horror Picture Show as Eddie.
