Sadio Mane scored in the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations as Senegal defeated Cape Verde 2-0, but was taken off with a concussion.
Mane curled in off the underside of the crossbar shortly after goalkeeper Vozinha was booted off after a horrific collision with the Liverpool striker.
Mane persisted despite seeming to have been knocked unconscious momentarily during the event.
After celebrating his score, he collapsed on the midway and was escorted off the field before the game resumed.
Cape Verde player Patrick Andrade received a straight red card halfway through the first half, and Senegal’s second goal came in second-half injury time from Bamba Dieng.
Prior to the match in Bafoussam, a minute’s silence was observed for the victims of Monday’s crash at the Olembe Stadium.
On Sunday, Senegal will play either Mali or Equatorial Guinea in the final eight.
