After being left out of India’s selection for the forthcoming two-match T20I series against Ireland later this month, Gujarat Titans star Rahul Tewatia voiced his unhappiness.
Tewatia sent a cryptic tweet hours after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the T20I team. “Expectations hurts,” the 29-year-old added, implying his sorrow at being passed over by the Chetan Sharma-led screening committee.
The 29-year-old was a finisher for Gujarat Titans, who won the IPL 2022 season. Under Hardik Pandya’s guidance, the newcomers won the championship in their first season. In 16 appearances for Gujarat Titans, Tewatia scored 217 runs with a strike rate of 147.62. On June 26 and 28, India will face Ireland in two Twenty20 Internationals in Dublin. Hardik Pandya will lead the squad, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar serving as vice-captain for the series. Rahul Tripathi and Sanju Samson are among the star players in the team.
Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh, both of whom are set to make their debuts against South Africa, have also been included in the team. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer will not play in the series since they will be with the Indian side for the fifth Test in England.
