Liverpool Thrash Manchester United 4-0

Liverpool thrashed a frustrated Manchester United 4-0 at Anfield to take the Premier League lead.

Manchester City can reclaim the lead against Brighton on Wednesday, but Jurgen Klopp’s side are keen to catch up and win a historic quadruple.

On the other hand, United were beaten badly by the Liverpool powerhouse, illustrating the huge task facing manager-elect Erik ten Hag.

In the seventh minute, both sets of fans applauded a heartfelt homage to Cristiano Ronaldo’s newborn kid.

After 22 minutes, Salah scored from Sadio Mane’s wonderful ball to snap his eight-game goalless streak.

Mane scored a first-time finish from Diaz’s ball in the 69th minute, and Salah completed the onslaught with five minutes remaining.

Liverpool became the first team to score eight Premier League goals against United in a season during a 5-0 win in October.

The win takes Klopp’s team two points clear of City, who face Brighton on Wednesday at the Etihad Stadium. They will also play in the Champions League next season.

United, who could have caught fourth-placed Tottenham, are sixth. On Saturday, United host Arsenal (5th).
