Liverpool Survive a Scare to Win Over Norwich City
Liverpool rallied in the second half against a tenacious Norwich team to maintain their Premier League title aspirations with an eighth consecutive victory in all competitions.
The Reds had numerous chances to score but were forced into action shortly after the break as Milot Rashica’s deflected drive gave the Canaries hope of a first victory at Anfield in 28 years.
Jurgen Klopp, who made seven changes to the squad that defeated Inter Milan in the Champions League in midweek, intervened on 62 minutes to make attacking alterations, and his side had turned the game around inside four minutes.
Sadio Mane acrobatically converted Konstantinos Tsimikas’ header, then Mohamed Salah raced on to goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s clearance to round Angus Gunn and score.
Salah’s 17th league goal of the season was his 150th in all competitions for Liverpool – one of just ten players to reach that milestone – and Luis Diaz sealed the win with his first goal since signing from Porto with a lovely chipped finish.
Klopp’s team close the gap on league leaders Manchester City to six points ahead of the champions’ late encounter, while Norwich slip to the bottom of the table and are five points from safety.
