Shane Warne, one of Australia’s greatest cricketers of all time, has died of a suspected heart attack at the age of 52.
Warne amassed 708 Test wickets, the second-highest total in history, in 145 matches during a 15-year international career.
According to his management company, he was discovered unconscious in his villa on the Thai island of Koh Samui on Friday.
“It is with great sadness we advise that Shane Keith Warne passed away of a suspected heart attack,” it added.
“Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived.
“The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course.”
He retired from international cricket in 2007 after that victory.
He leaves behind three children with his ex-wife, Simone Callahan.
