Following the release of “Eazy,” which inspired innumerable memes with the line “God protected me from that crash/Just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s ass,” West has prepared to unveil Donda 2, which will be released on Feb. 22. It will be executive produced, according to West’s Instagram post, by frequent collaborator Future.
The album follows 2021’s Donda, which was reissued multiple times in the form of enormous listening parties. West, a devout Christian, infused the album with his modern hip-hop sound and the gospel direction explored on 2019’s Jesus Is King. Donda has now become the rapper’s most divisive album.
Along with the announcement of Donda 2, Netflix is gearing up to broadcast the Coodie & Chike-directed documentary jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy (Feb. 16), which features archival material spanning West’s lengthy career. The rapper turned to Instagram to request the final approval of the documentary ahead of its distribution in order to “be in control of [his] own image.”
