You don’t even have to be a mother to know that going into labor is considered one of the most extreme sorts of pain one can experience. All those movies showing a woman screaming and cringing in pain are a pretty accurate reflection of what a typical day in the delivery room looks like. For many mothers, the experience of giving birth to a child hurts more than anything they will ever experience again in their lifetimes. However, some mothers have said that there have been other medical conditions that hurt even more than giving birth. What are they?
Broken Bones
If you have broken at least one bone in your lifetime, you know what we’re talking about. Depending on which bone was broken, the pain can shoot to multiple areas of your body. A broken clavicle can affect your ability to move your arm, shoulder, and head on top of all the pain you already experience.
Migraines
While many people think a migraine is simply a severe headache, it’s actually much worse. Migraines can last for days and aren’t easily cured with an over-the-counter (OTC) drug. It’s common to experience nausea, sensitivity to light and noises, etc. Migraines make doing seemingly easy tasks feel impossible to complete and can keep you in bed for a few days.
Oral Surgery
From root canals to wisdom teeth extraction, oral surgery is known to be pretty painful. Even when anesthesia is used, the post-surgery pain can affect a patient for days. With wisdom teeth removal, patients often feel like something is stabbing a knife into their back gums throughout the night. It’s not hard to believe the pain is severe when gauze soaks with blood for the first 24 hours. Root canals can inflict serious pressure on the tooth, making it sensitive to foods and severe temperatures.
Kidney Stones
Having a kidney stone means a solid material formed in the kidney when normal substances found in the urine become highly concentrated. This condition hurts its victims because they feel pain when urinating and sometimes find blood. Additionally, the sharp pain in the lower back is enough to cancel all activities planned for the day. The women who have endured kidney stones have said it’s the only medical condition out there that could give men an idea of what women experience during labor.
Surgery
After having a surgeon cut into your body to remove something causing you problems, it’s going to be hard to recover. While you’re knocked out cold during the process, the post-surgery feeling is enough to keep you out of work for a week or more. Beyond the extreme exhaustion, the pain can linger around and leave you vulnerable. Pain killers can do some magic temporarily, but for long-term alleviation, you simply have to ride out the pain.
Don’t get us wrong — Child labor is definitely painful, and no one can understand that until having gone through it themselves. But hopefully, you will never have to endure these additional traumatic experiences that will leave you wanting to never leave your bed again.
