Burkina Faso Advanced to the Afcon Quarter-finals by Defeating Gabon on Penalties.

Burkina Faso became the first team to qualify for the quarter-finals with a penalty shootout victory over 10-man Gabon.

The tense encounter began with a fantastic chance for Bertrand Traore, who had several attempts on goal before scoring midway through the first half, and Burkina Faso will have fancied their prospects of moving when the away side’s Sidney Obissa was sent off following the break.

Gabon did not surrender and secured an injury-time equalize through Adama Guira, but it just added to their misery as Burkina Faso won on penalties.
