Gunners forward Martinelli was sent off in the second half for two bookings given at the same time for infringements seconds apart – preventing a throw-in and a foul on Chiquinho.
Following that, the bigger chances followed, with Lacazette firing wide, but the visitors held on for the win.
Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal denied Romain Saiss and Leander Dendoncker, while Chiquinho’s attempt was blocked on the line.
Arsenal’s first victory in six matches lifted them to fifth place and denied eighth-placed Wolves a fourth consecutive league victory.
