A stunning Salah strike ignites Liverpool’s season as Man City suffers their first defeat of the season

Liverpool defeated Manchester City 1-0 on Sunday thanks to a brilliant second-half goal from Mohamed Salah. The champions lost their unbeaten start to the Premier League season in a tense match in which home coach Juergen Klopp was shown a red card.

Salah raced past Joao Cancelo to score the game-winning goal for Liverpool, who entered the match having experienced their worst start to a Premier League season after eight games since 2012-13.

The Egypt international, like many of his teammates, had struggled to get going. However, after scoring the fastest Champions League hat-trick in Liverpool’s 7-1 rout of Rangers in midweek, his decisive goal 14 minutes from the end continued his team’s mini-revival.

The victory put Liverpool up to ninth in the standings, 13 points behind second-placed City and four points behind leaders Arsenal.
